Lost in the abyss, drowned in the deep
No set of lungs could salvage me
Save yourself, save your breath
The tide's too strong, you'll catch your death
This part of the woods was pretty nostalgic. Right up by the mountainside, where the terrain was rough and rocky and she could see the peak of that big mountain not far from here. She loved this shit. It reminded her of her old territory. A somewhat familiar comfort in an otherwise otherwise unwelcoming territory, where everything was completely different from the only way she knew. Despite everything, how fucked up her life has been ever since that day, coming out here to do a little hunting was therapeutic. Kept her mind on fonder memories.
She remembered the forest she was born and raised in. Far wilder and harsher than these woods ever were, dense and unwelcoming and full of beasts. As a cub, she knew little else but the massive trees, the darkness, and the haze that enveloped much of it, but was surrounded by mountains and cliffs. She used to hang around good old Tuskly Cliffs all the time back then, or ventured around the borders by Krieger Pass, where her lands met that of the Alabaster Summit.
They were a great place to hunt. Not just for prey but bears and cougars and shit too. Speaking of cougars... that was exactly what she came out here for. It'd been a while since she last got to fuck with one. She'd almost forgotten the way they sounded when they scream. But she could never truly forget after spending so many nights hearing their cries. Though they were usually so silent. Ghosts of the mountains.
They sure left tracks like every other animal did though. Nothing could truly hide, especially not on a day like this. They had a scent too, like the one Nyx was tracking right now. It was some musky male that'd been spraying its urine everywhere to mark this part of the cliffside. Nyx's muzzle wrinkled when she passed over a spot that smelled really strong and she had to suppress the urge to gag. Maybe keeping her nose so low to the ground wasn't such a good idea... Nyx swept her tongue across the leather of her nose even though it never helped much and she continued forward, following the trail at a casual pace.
