Tasha laid by the den, on her side and facing the rest of the densite. She recognized the large, black male, Okiro. He was the heilari, the healer of the pack. One of the pups, Fyrina, was playing with something in the middle of the clearing. Tasha just observed.
It was a gorgeous day, too. The sun was setting, sending its glorious golden rays everywhere. The snow was virtually gone in the clearing, and it was still warm. Tasha sighed, staring out at the sunset. In the moment, everything was fine.

~ FYRINA ~
Fyrina pranced around the clearing, manuevering her almost fully grown body around as she chased a ball of Okiro’s moss. The sun made her pelt shine a reddish-gold, and in that moment she felt like a pup again. Being almost a year old meant that soon, she’d take on more responsibilities of an adult.
Fyre stumbled, having landed on her paw that had been injured that past fall in a training exercise. She caught herself, remembering how her dad had saved her from the rigorous training and how he had left her afterwards. She picked up the moss and carried it over to Okiro, who was sorting herbs.
“Here. Need any help?” she asked. After she had injured her paw, she had spent most of her time with the Heilari. She sat in front of the herbs, racking her brain to remember names.
Okiro sat in his area of the clearing towards the edge with his supply of old and fresh herbs in front of him. They were running low in several herbs, but at least it was spring and things were beginning to grow again. He was sorting them into piles when he noticed Tasha, the pregnant new girl, looking over at them.
“Hi.” he said to her, offering a nod and a gentle smile. The large male was very mild-tempered and kind, despite what people typically thought upon seeing him.
Fyrina padded up, a ball of moss in her mouth, and she spat it out and offered to help. “Sure. Can you help me organize these?” he said. Secretly, he didn’t need help, but he had worked with Fyrina before, and she was good company nowadays. Not as hyper and her intentions were good.
