after having spent a few weeks gutting urchins and crabs along the shoreline, koh's eventual trek into the mountains was a welcome change of pace. she'd thought she'd never get that terrible salty taste out of her mouth. although, when the wind rustled through her fur, she still smelled the coastline in the air, endless and dank. koh had fattened up some, between snatching up clams and tearing into bigger, fattier meals as she strayed away from the shore.
for now, she had her eyes on a fawn. koh hid herself among the underbrush as the sun rose, the light and shadows of the forest settling just so, just enough, that she wouldn't alert her prey in the rising dawn.
koh stepped forward quietly, golden eyes set on her target. muscles sprang into action and she charged, teeth bared, honing in on the fawn's throat. it bucked, slipping just out of her grasp, kicking her in the muzzle as it fled.
oh, it was on.
the reddish wolf snarled, a wicked grin splaying across her jaws as she gave chase, fast enough to keep up with the little morsel, but not fast enough to overtake it yet. she cackled wildly, snapping at the fawn's heels. in its panic, it seemed to be looking for its mother. how cute.
her teeth eventually caught the fawn's heel, snapping shut. it lurched forward, its escape thwarted. koh tugged back, hard, making it lose its balance, even as it kicked and desperately tried to scramble away from the predator.
koh's jaws worked at the heel, piercing skin and flesh and eventually snapping the joint. she lapped up the blood as she placed a paw on the fawn's back and held it in place, pressing it into the earth as her jaws were set upon its delicate throat. it struggled, bucking uselessly in her grasp, soaking both of their fur with fresh blood and dew.
hunger had set its teeth in koh then, as well, and tucked into the fawn's warm flesh. she paid little mind to her surroundings, caring much more about the meal in front of her, growling in pleasure.
