marrow had spent a few days exploring the area around the waterfall, both out of curiosity, as well as necessity. he'd hoped to make somewhat of a more... private home here, away from it all. peaceful. entirely his.
fuck, he was lonely.
it wasn't a bad thing, really. it was nice, to retire to some idyllic spot in the mountains, isolated and alone. there was little to distract himself from the resurgence of memories, but perhaps lesser stimuli was best. goddammit, he deserved a calm, relaxing retirement. he knew he did.
maybe... this wasn't so bad. it was certainly beautiful, to say the least.
today.... was soggy. he'd slipped and tore open a few of his paw pads as he went, tumbling into the cool water. it was certainly a bit of a shock, but not wholly unwelcome, as it washed the dirt and rocks away from his wounds, and cooled marrow's body down considerably. he's stayed in the water for some time, switching between laying in it and swimming against the current, exercising his sore body.
marrow eventually spread himself out on a rock, wet fur clinging limply to the warm stone as he let the sun wash over him, in the hopes it would cry him off before the evening chill set in. he craned his neck over to the edge, lapping up the cool water. certainly not drooling all over the edge of the stone.
he probably looked dead, if not dying, which he found vaguely amusing. trying to snatch a hot meal would be a good way for someone to meet his teeth. the idea of an unassuming stranger's blood blooming between his jaws had him licking his chops.
what a surprise indeed.
