Kole
Soaked in rain and dirt, Kole stepped into some diner called “Cork ‘n’ Pork,” their gimmick being how they sell breakfast all day and serve alcohol. A gimmick Kole fed right into -- I mean, sausage and a good beer? Well, it was only 8AM so maybe just the sausage for now. A few pieces of sausage actually, and some bacon, eggs, and a platter of pancakes.
It was raining hard as fuck today, so work got cancelled two hours into it. Kole was in her dirty overalls and bright vest, dripping with rain, and took a seat at a table not far from the door. The waitress was gonna give her a minute to “think about what she wants to order” or whatever, but Kole already knew. She ordered just what she’d had in mind: sausage, bacon, eggs, a plate of pancakes, and decided to get a side of hashbrowns too. And for her drink, she just went with water.
It's a pretty day today, Kole thought. She might have to go sit on her porch later, or take a walk, maybe visit the park. Ohhh, a jog sounded great actually, she just had to run home and change first. Throw her clothes in the washer and enjoy the rest of the day. There really were endless possibilities. Maybe she could go check out dogs at the shelter like she's been wanting to. Take her indoor plants out so they can have a good, plentiful taste of sky water.
In her thoughts, Kole took her hair out of its loose braid and put it back together again a bit tighter. The waitress came up then to put her shit on the table, and Kole's elbow collided with her cup of water. It knocked to the ground and the plastic broke, water splattering all over the ground and the waitress’ shoes. Man, fuck that water!!
Kole instinctively stood up, bumping the table hard and nearly knocking all the food off too. ”Oh my god,” she said, looking at the water-covered ground with wide eyes. Then looked up at the waitress. ”I’m sorry. Lemme get that,” Kole offered and slid out from the booth, marching toward the bar to grab napkins.
The waitress fortunately didn’t argue with the offer for help, probably already fucking done with today so early. She took a step back, out of the large puddle, and waited for Kole to come take care of it.
