XIOMARA VELAZQUEZ
Xiomara would never really get use to the cold. She never experienced it for the first 3 years of her life and this was her first real winter. It wasn't terrible - she liked it at times. It took her a hot minute to get use to the way her paws got wet and cold when it snowed, and she was mostly a Mexican wolf so her fur didn't get as fluffy as the other timber wolves here. But it still wasn't too bad. She preferred experiencing the elements than being stuck in that human's den.
The lean female had been loping behind the herd for a good while, the light layer of snow under paw. Thankfully her stamina was nothing to scoff at, so she felt like she could run at a good pace like this - not at a sprint - for hours, it seemed like. Her breathes came out steadily as the herd remained in a clump as they ran ahead of her, and finally a cow broke away from the herd. Xiomara picked up the pace, sprinting between the cow and the herd so she couldn't try to rejoin and running her away from it. Xiomara stopped in her tracks when the cow turned to face her and swiped her hoof at her face, with which Xiomara jumped to the side to dodge.
Shit, this cow was pretty damn big. At least as far as cow elk go. Xiomara wanted it, and although she was alone and the smart thing to do was to just cut her losses and try again, she didn't want to give it up. Growing up hungry can do that. Xiomara's face was serious and entirely focused on the cow, and she made a move towards its side but it just swiped at her again, which caused Xiomara to jump back to avoid it.
This was going to be more challenging than she thought.
